Shottesbrooke Wines : Awarded the esteemed 15th Royal Agricultural Society of NSW President’s Medal
With almost 40 years under its winemaking belt, 2nd generation McLaren Vale winery, Shottesbrooke Vineyards has been awarded the esteemed 15th Royal Agricultural Society of NSW President’s Medal with its 2020 Single Vineyard ‘Adelaide Hills’ Chardonnay, after picking up the trophy for the Best Single Vineyard Wine at 2021 KPMG Sydney Royal Wine Show.
Drawn from Sydney Royal Champions from throughout the year, the President’s Medal, first awarded in 2006, has become Australia’s premier agricultural award. Recognising excellence for not just an individual product’s taste and quality, the judging process also incorporates a producer’s overall integrity, sustainability, and business philosophy.
This highly sought-after award is a welcome acknowledgement of Shottesbrooke’s ongoing success, and is described by Presidents Medal Award Judge, Ed Halmagyi, as being “an award that advances the concept of quality beyond taste, setting new standards in best practice for environmental, social and economical management”.
Shottesbrooke head Winemaker and General Manager, Hamish Maguire, said he was both thrilled and stunned to have been awarded the top prize, as it came from a field of highly respected competitors including Sunshine Meats Gourmet Smallgoods and Tathra Oysters. “We are ecstatic to have taken out the top prize, and especially after the last couple of years.

Mr. Maguire also acknowledged the team effort that was required to win this award. “Being a finalist for the President’s Medal gave us the opportunity to formally reflect on the business model we have built and acknowledge how every staff member across the organisation has contributed to our success and our story. Going on to win this award has been a truly proud moment for me and will inspire us to continue to improve and innovate into the future.”
