Shiraz through the generations
McLaren Vale's winemaking community is built on multi-generational family businesses. Though years pass, generations change and winemaking styles differ, Shiraz has long been the constant for many in our region.
Oliver's Taranga, a 6th generation winemaking family, exemplifies the enduring spirit of Shiraz, producing exceptional expressions that showcase the vibrant fruit flavours and plush velvety mouthfeel synonymous with McLaren Vale Shiraz.
There is not a founding family in McLaren Vale that doesn't have a little Shiraz flowing through their veins, and the Olivers are no different. Shiraz is what the Olivers love and it is in Shiraz that they trust. Starting with their Estate Shiraz sourced from the Taranga vineyard that has been in their family for over 180 years.
The HJ Shiraz, named for fourth generation family member Herbert John Oliver who planted the very vineyard this wine is sourced from, back in 1948. Or if you're very lucky on your visit to their cellar door, there may be some M53 Shiraz on hand, the brand that marked the finest Taranga herd back in 1880 and now, almost 145 years later, it marks Taranga’s finest wine.
Shiraz is woven through the Oliver family history, and will do for many years to come with winemaker, and 6th generation family member, Corrina Wright on the case. McLaren Vale is in good hands...
The Oliver's Taranga McLaren Vale Cellar Door is open daily, 10am–4pm, offering structured wine tastings, unique wine experiences and a friendly atmosphere.
